Trump Called The Topic Of Arms To Control The Most Important In The Relations Between The US And Russia
Donald Trump told the Washington Post that working together with Russia on arms control is the most significant aspect of the bilateral relations between Washington and Moscow.
"From what we can do, nothing is more significant than controlling nuclear weapons," he said in an interview with the newspaper's columnist, which was published on the WP website on Saturday.
Trump added that, in his opinion, he and Russian President Vladimir Putin "actually have a very good relationship," even though "every week we impose more and more sanctions against Russia."
Speaking about Russia in the context of the war in Afghanistan, Trump said that he believes that Russia least wants to be involved in this conflict.
"They were there for a long time. The Soviet Union turned into Russia because of Afghanistan, because they suffered a serious blow in Afghanistan," Trump said.
To the question: what if Russia wants to return to Afghanistan after the complete withdrawal of US troops, Trump replied: "Please have fun."
