An Asteroid The Size Of A Football Field, PQ1, Is Approaching Earth
The potentially dangerous asteroid 2009 PQ1 will fly one and a half tens of millions of kilometers from Earth on August 5, according to NASA.
According to the calculations of the American space Agency, the asteroid's diameter is from 84 to 190 meters. For comparison, the average length of a football field is about 100 meters.
The minimum distance that a celestial body can approach the Earth, NASA experts estimate at 13.2 million km, which makes it possible to attribute asteroid 2009 PQ1 to potentially dangerous astronomical objects.
It is noted that the maximum approach of the asteroid and the Earth will occur on Wednesday, August 5 at 19: 35 Moscow time.
Asteroid 2009 PQ1 was discovered and registered in 2009. It belongs to the so-called group of Apollo asteroids, whose orbits intersect the Earth's orbit from the outside.
