Telegram Has Filed A Complaint Against Apple Due To Working Conditions In The AppStore
Telegram messenger after the music service Spotify filed an antitrust complaint with the European Commission in connection with uncompetitive working conditions in the app store AppStore of Apple Corporation.
Telegram complains about a 30% Commission on the turnover of all apps in the AppStore, including sales of premium services to users in the apps themselves. The company believes that the US Corporation should allow Apple users to download developers ' apps bypassing the AppStore, the document says.
"Apple may think that they have cleverly trapped us because we have already purchased a critical mass of their smartphones and created a critical mass of apps for them. But we must not allow them to continue to abuse the situation in the market," Pavel Durov, the founder of the messenger, wrote in his Telegram channel a week earlier.
In mid-June, the European Commission announced the beginning of an antitrust investigation against the American Apple Inc, in which it intends to assess the company's possible violation of competition rules in the Apple Pay and AppStore services.
The investigation was launched by the European Commission in response to complaints received from the Swedish music streaming service Spotify and Japan's Rakuten, who complained about unfavorable working conditions with Apple, in particular, high taxes in the AppStore for developers.
