The UAE Has Commissioned The First Nuclear Power Plant In The Arab Countries
The first in the Arab world NPP was commissioned in UAE on Saturday, according to the Arab newspaper Gulf News, citing the Vice-President and Prime Minister, Sheikh of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum.
"Today, we announce the successful commissioning of the first peaceful nuclear reactor in the Arab world at the Baraka nuclear power plant in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi," al Maktoum tweeted.
He noted that specialists have successfully loaded nuclear fuel, conducted tests, and successfully completed launch operations.
"Our goal is to put into operation four nuclear power plants that would provide a quarter of the state's electricity needs safely, reliably and environmentally," al Maktoum added.
Gulf News notes that preparatory work continued at the nuclear power plant for five months.
