Tourist Traffic To Spain Has Fallen By More Than 70% In Six Months
Foreign tourist traffic to Spain for six months decreased by 71.7% - to 10.8 million people, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of the country.
From January to June, 10.8 million foreign travelers visited Spain, which is 71.7% less than in the same period a year earlier. Most tourists came from the UK (2 million, minus 75.5%), France (1.4 million, minus 69.8%), and Germany (1.3 million, minus 74.7%).
The most popular regions of Spain in the first half of the year were the Canary Islands, Catalonia, and Andalusia. Most often, tourists came without spending the night or stayed for a period of 4 to 7 nights.
In June, the number of foreign visitors to Spain decreased by a record of 97.7% to 205 thousand people. Most often, the country was visited by travelers from France (65 thousand). followed by a large margin are Germany (33.7 thousand) and the Netherlands (12.3 thousand).
This month, tourists most actively visited Catalonia, Valencia, and the Balearic Islands, most also chose a trip without an overnight stay.
