Lithuania Received Javelin Missiles Worth Over $31 Million From The US
Additional Javelin anti-tank missiles worth more than $31 million were transferred to Lithuania from the United States, the Lithuanian Armed Forces said on Wednesday.
These missiles are American aid to this Baltic country. According to the Lithuanian Defense Ministry, Vilnius plans to buy $104 million worth of missiles from the United States in the next decade. These systems will be additionally equipped with units of the Lithuanian Land Forces, which will strengthen the country's defense power.
"The US is a strategic partner and the main security ally of the Baltic region. The American Javelin anti-tank system makes a significant contribution to the long - term strengthening of the combat readiness of the Lithuanian armed forces and strengthening of defense power," said Vice-Minister Eimutis Misiunas, whose words are quoted in a press release of the Ministry.
The American Ambassador to Lithuania, Robert Gilchrist, added that additional Javelin anti-tank missiles "will undoubtedly strengthen Lithuania's interaction with the US armed forces." The Ambassador also welcomed Lithuania's efforts to modernize and improve its armed forces.
