More Than A Thousand Protesters Detained In Belarus On The Night Of August 12
On the night of August 12, more than a thousand people were detained at protest actions in Belarus, 17 criminal cases were opened on the facts of attacks on law enforcement officers, the Ministry of internal Affairs of the country reported.
The ministry noted that on Wednesday night in the country "there were focal collections of citizens in 25 localities".
In Belarus, three nights in a row are held protests and clashes between their participants and law enforcement agencies.
The protesters do not agree with the announced results of the presidential election, in which, according to preliminary data of the CEC, the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko won 80.08% of the vote, and his primary rival Svetlana Tikhanovskaya - 10.9%.
During the protests, one person died, and more than 200 people were hospitalized. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the detention of more than 3 thousand people on the night of August 10 and more than two thousand on the night of August 11.
