The current President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko won the presidential election, which took place on August 9. The relevant information was published on Friday on the website of the CEC of the country.
"The election results were approved by the Commission's decision. Alexander Lukashenko has been elected President of the Republic of Belarus," the statement reads.
According to the Commission, Lukashenko won 80.1% of the vote, while 10.12% of voters voted for Svetlana Tikhonovskaya, who was called his main competitor.
