Director Patrick Hughes sets the next Feature 'War Machine at Lionsgate (EXCLUSIVE)

Patrick Hughes, director of the successful action-comedy franchise "The Hitman's Bodyguard," is starting his next project at Lionsgate.

Hughes is going to write and direct War Machine, a movie based on the final recruits of grueling special ops boot camp who encounter frightened forces from beyond this world.

The project will be produced by Rich Cook and Huge Film by Lionsgate president Erin Westerman.

The movie is a great movie. What sets his film apart is his focus on characters that are cut through the mayhem. He came to us with witty original idea, and we were thrilled to shepherd it with Patrick in the drivers seat.

The films have grossed nearly $250 million worldwide and both debuted at No. 1 (the sequel is still working despite the global pandemic and the emergence of a global tsunami).

Hughes' previous credits include "The Expendables 3," and "A Man from Toronto" (played by Kevin Hart and Woody Harrelson) is his next project, "Made From Toronto." He is represented by Range Media Partners and Felker Toczek Suddleson Abramson.
