Spotify Expands Charts to include Genre and Local Categories

Spotify has launched a new Charts destination website that includes new Genre and Local charts, along with data and tools to give more information to artists and listeners on releases.

In the announcement, We created this destination to enable artists and fans to study the data and see what music is moving listeners around the world.

The new features include::

Spotifys charts generate the top 200 songs across 17 genres every week, based on context from user playlists and editorial feedback.

Artist charts are based on their entire catalog streams. The top 200 artists are updated globally and across the 65 top markets every Friday.

Cities and local cities & cities charts: Spotifys city charts capture the music popular among listeners in over 200 top cities. Local Pulse charts compare each trackd popularity to its popularity around the world.

Added new data, artists can see chart entry dates, peak positions, and streaks from the expanded view. Viewers can also see songwriter and producer credits for each song by clicking more.

Spotify created new shareable Promo Cards that accompany any chart position available to artists or fans.
