Chris Stapleton and Luke Combs Top CMA Awards, as Jennifer Hudson and Mickey Guyton Steal the Show

Chris Stapleton nearly swept the CMA Awards with six trophies Wednesday night, but the Country Music Association reserved its top prize for Luke Combs, who won entertainer of the year for the first time.

Combs premiered a new song earlier in the night, Doin This. The telecast slipped across the three-hour point, resounding as if he had never written sung tycoon for this, which isnt good for me right now. I haven't read my name yet, but Im sure as hell glad I did. Comas was pleased with the music as it drew from the first night of the evening.

Combs was the second time he was at bat for the entertainer of the year, last year a slug lost to Eric Church.

The show had its winners largely falling along predictable lines, but the show won, for the first time, the win of Combs entertainer, which was a matter of suspense, and Carly Pearce winning the female vocalist for supper, whose performance was less taken by some socially conscious performers.

Stapleton despite missing out in the entertainer category, he remained successful in several awards, winning all the awards for his Starting Over album and its title track, all for both his producer and the musician category. He was twice the winner in two of those categories, for being a producer, and for songwriter.

As well as Stapleton, many others had repeated trips to the podium, such as Old Dominion, picking up the band's fourth win for group of the year, and Brothers Osborne, who also won a fourth year'd vocal duo of that year.

The song that followed was written by Osborne during the early 2021 era of gay marriage, a rarity in the mainstream country realm.

When a black student was sent home from school, her braids violated school policy, an incident that inspired Guyton to write the song.

All three-hour ABC telecast included Jimmie Allen, who won best new artist in the three hour broadcast, in a field that was expected to see the win go either to him or Guyton.

Jennifer Hudson was a scene-stealer, bringing down the house by performing doodles of country or country-R&B crossover songs that Aretha Franklin performed during her career, joined on guitar by Stapleton, the man of the night.

When the telecast was a short, re-opening, TJ Osborne said that he'd be delighted with the victory of the brothers, but remained focused. It was not just that that was the same as the new eviction, which benefited me for so much in the world, that it was no longer able to, not only as it is, it also sounded like to be listened to and be loved by the people that would be happy with it.

The CMA board decided that due to the scandal over his racial slur, Wallen wouldn't be eligible for any awards except those that also included other nominees. In other words, he couldn'ten compete for entertainer or male vocalist, but anything else was fair game.

As soon as Wallen had announced the album of the year nominee, the huge fan cheers greeted the announcement of his name, and the recognition of him as his best name sounded louder in the feed from Bridgestone Arena, so that even if she had to announce a Wallent triumph, was lost.

Pearce was clearly the most shocked winner of the night, with a long pause when she didn't hear words in front of his friend, Ashley McBryd, whose remark was reflected in her recent album, 29: Written in Stone, is one of her most famous albums of all time. She also began bringing her divorce back in song in july of last year, but was forced to abandon her work.

Luke Bryan hosted the CMA for the first time, after having previously co-hosted the ACM Awards. He joined two times on stage by Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, plugging the new season of American Idol.

Combs, who is still one of the biggest country music stars, made a running joke of his lack of nominations this year, introducing his performance into the world of renowned music. Previously, Combies sat down as he joked about how lately when I am Googling myself and I'm pretty sure I come first.... I used to own the Luke real estate, but unlike my personal favorite, this one has three nomination.

In the beginning of the show, the comedic monologues have gotten less topical since longtime co-hosts were unable to work with Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, but there was a real moment in Bryans interaction with Under Wood, or at least between the camera and Under wood.

In response to Rodgers' anti-vax statements, Underwood and his husband were under the microscope this week. "It was great to be here with all my friends, tested and together, or I have just been together," he said. Under wood and her husband have been under pressure this weekend, so they have a voice in support of the sexistness of burgeoning football players and dissenting views.

In addition to Stapleton, Kelsea Ballerini and Kenny Chesney were the only double winners this year, both of them sharing music video and musical event prizes for their duet on Half of My Hometown; those two awards were given earlier on Good Morning America.

Other performers included Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley (with Hardy and Breland), Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett, Dan + Shay, Zac Brown Band, Gabby Barrett, Blake Shelton, the teaming of Kane Brown and Chris Young, and another duet between Underwood and Jason Aldean. Thats not counting the a cappella snippet that the original singer, Deana Carter and recent singer Lainey Wilson did in tv.
