The fifth annual Hollywood Critics Association Film Awards on Jan. 8 honors Simu Liu, Greig Fraser, Jude Hill, Natalie Morales and the cast of CODA.
Liu was honored with this year's game-changer award for his history-making role in Marvels Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
In a statement, the winner of the Game Changer award has been presented to an actor or actress whose most recent work showcased something so noteworthy that we believed it could only lead to bigger and better projects, said Nestor Bentancor.
The newcomer award will go to Hill for his role as Buddy in Kenneth Branaghs buzz-worthy Belfast. The performance of Hill instantly captured my heart and I believe that he will capture all the people who see BeLfast said Ashley Menzel.
For his most recent work, the cinematographer, Denis Villeneuve, won the Artisans Achievement Award this year. Fraser has received no but critical acclaim for his work on the iconic film "Dune" recently.
The film's cast received the HCA Spotlight Award for her work directing Language Lessons and Plan B. The two films were released only weeks apart and received critical acclaim. Besides, the cast of Sian Heders film CODA is being honored with the award for "HCA spot light for bringing awareness to underrepresented voices in entertainment.
