The British photographer Rankin launched a Book celebrating West End Theater with 'Performance'

On Thursday, British photographer Rankin launches his latest book, Performance by Grain, a book celebrating Londons live-theater community. It is joined by an exhibition in London.

The book signing will be followed by the presentation at the Londons House of Photography. Rankin will speak with Emma De Souza, head of marketing and communications at The Society of London Theatre, director Jamie Lloyd and producer and director Nica Burns.

In addition to the portraits, the subjects reflect on their experiences of the past 18 months.

Then I realized that because of the vast creative world and the isolation we all felt, I felt the loss of theater because the performance that we were all working in every day was lost. The problem was that the lack of live theater over the last year, it seemed like it was a real team sport. It was also based on the vision that i practiced in my studio that I was so passionate about it.

"Taking pictures for this new project, the joy that each subject brought to the sessions was like breath of fresh air, rejuvenating my energy for what I did, as well as giving everyone a chance to perform again, albeit by camera." "My experience of being together, working on something collaboratively was one of the most inspiring things I've ever been involved in."

The Theatre Artists Fund and a selection of youth homelessness charities are all profits from that book.
