The number of victims of a landslide that happened on Thursday in the area of jade mining in Kachin state in Myanmar has risen to 126. Such data is provided by the country's Fire Department.

The bodies of 126 people were found, according to a report on the Department's official Facebook page. Also, 23 victims were hospitalized. Earlier, the Myanmar Ministry of Information reported 113 dead.

The incident occurred at about 08:00 local time (04:30 GMT). According to a representative of the rescue services, the rock descended from a cliff more than 300 m high. The landslide was caused by prolonged seasonal rains. According to law enforcement agencies, the work was carried out despite a warning from the authorities about heavy rains.
