Activision has launched their new kernel-level Ricochet Anti-Cheat for Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone, which has now provided an update on how things are going. Overall, Team Ricochet says there has been a significant drop in cheaters, although new cheats have been implemented and eventually eliminated. CoD: Vanguard and Warzone has seen 180,000 new bans, which means Ricochet is certainly catching plenty of bad actors in its net.

While the topic of CoD cheating is far from dismissed, Team Ricochet insists they are improving in determining when something is off early.

The speed at which we can recognize when players are doing things they shouldn''t be doing. We then contact them with something from our mitigation toolbox (or all of them at once if they were feeling spicy) and analyze the results from the machine that is suspected of cheating. This is one of the many ways we can understand new bad behaviors and work to protect our games.

Some of Ricochet''s most powerful features are its narcotics designed to annoy cheaters or in some instances trick them into continuing to play, despite their cheats being rendered useless. Fortunately, Team Ricochet has outlined a new mitigation, which may be the most amusing yet, if a cheater is detected they may simply have all their weapons taken from them during the match, turning them into sitting ducks.

Disarm is a toolbox that uses this term to mitigate cheaters by simply taking their weapons away (including their fists). We do not expect many clips of this to arrive online, but we have seen it in effect and the reactions from cheaters are always priceless.

Activision Blizzard has faced a slew of lawsuits and other legal action following a lawsuit filed by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) alleging widespread gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment at the Call of Duty publisher. When Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is launched on October 28, Ricochet Anti-Cheat will be included in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. CoD Warzone 2.0 will also include it from Day 1.
