Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi: Everything we know about a potential second series

Season 2 is reportedly on the cards. For the first time since the prequel trilogy was hugely exciting, Seeing Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen return to play Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader, despite the promise of a rematch of the century by Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.

Although the Disney Plus exclusive was described as a limited series, and the series has not been renewed at the time of publication, there''s still a lot of speculation about the possibility of a second season of it.

Here''s what we''ve learned so far...

Is Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 confirmed?

At the time of writing, Disney has not confirmed whether Season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi is on the works.

It''s only certain that, if a second season arrive, it will almost certainly be available on Disney Plus.

Is a second season likely?

A second season for Disney would certainly be a big success, as it became the most-watched premiere on Disney Plus globally based on the number of hours broadcast in an opening weekend. A second series may at least be considered.

Along with those impressive figures, both Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor have expressed their desire to spend more time with Darth Vader and Obi-Wan.

Hayden Christensen said he wanted to see the character in the next episode of Radio Times (opens in a new tab). But I think there are certainly more to explore, and I would be so grateful to get to do so, adding that if season 2 was successful, he would certainly be open to appearing in it.

Ewan McGregor is particularly enthusiastic about returning to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi. He told the Radio Times that he hopes this is not the last time I play him. I had a great time doing this and talked to him, but im sure we can begin by thinking about a few more stories before I turn into Alec Guinness, dont you think?

Joby Harold, a writer, discussed the possibility of starting a second season on the podcast. (opens in a new tab) He made it sound like there weren''t plans for more Obi-Wan yet, but it also sounded like he''d not be opposed to revisiting the character in the future.

"I''m constantly being asked about it," Joby Harold said. I''ve just been thinking about this for so long as a kind of limited [series] that I haven''t thought beyond it. But he''s a great character. They''re all fantastic characters."

When might Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 come out?

There have been a slew of announcements at Star Wars Celebration, including a slew of programs to look forward to from now to 2023. Season 2 and the new animated anthology series (which is expected to feature Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn) are also scheduled to be released.

Season 2 was also included in the roadmap. So, even if a second series is in the works, it may not hit our screens for a couple of years unless space opens up in the release schedule.

What happened in Obi-Wan Kenobi season one?

So far, Obi-Wan Kenobi has had *HUGE spoilers*.

While awaiting the finale to see how the first season gets tied up, the show primarily revolved around Obi-Wan and his attempts to rescue a young Princess Leia (played by Vivien Lyra Blair) from Darth Vader and his Jedi-hunting inquisitors.

Senator Bail Organa called him after Leia was caught on bounty hunters who encouraged him to go to Daiyu to rescue his little daughter. Although initially unwilling, Obi-Wan was only able to abandon the child and left Tatooine behind for the new world.

Third Sister Reva (Moses Ingram) adapted Leia as a bait to lure out Obi-Wan so she could capture him and send him to Darth Vader. Reva tracked Obi-Wan and Leia to the ship they planned to escape on, but the Grand Inquisitor arrived and attempted to bring Obi-Wan in himself. In the conundrum, Obi-Wan and Leia made their escape and fled to Mapuzo.

Obi-Wan crossed paths with Darth Vader for the first time, and he was brutally overpowered; Leia was also kidnapped by Reva for a second time. This forced Obi-Wan and his new friend Tala to launch a secret rescue operation on the Fortress Inquisitorius, allowing her to return once and for all.

Reva had placed a tracking beacon on the Leias droid, which Imperial personnel tracked back to Mapuzo, launched a full-scale assault on the hangar that Obi-Wan and his new friends were hiding out in.

During the confrontation, Obi-Wan learned that Reva was once a youngling who had survived an Anakins assault on the Jedi Temple during Order 66. She sought revenge for everything she had done to her friends, and was only so excited about capturing Obi-Wan so she could order to get close to him.

Obi-Wan Kenobi refused to commit any further deaths in the attack, empowering Reva to assassinate Vader while Vader failed to halt the escape ship. However, Reva was quickly overpowered in a brief duel and left for dead by Vader and the Grand Inquisitor, who had survived his injuries.
