These days, as streaming services are a dime a dozen and there is more competition for eyeballs than ever before, youd think that a movie involving some of Hollywood''s top names would get a lot of attention before its release. That wasn''t the case with the new Netflix movie, and fans are concerned about the missed opportunity.
If you haven''t heard of Spiderhead before, you''re probably not alone. A quick look at some of the most prominent actors will give you a sense of why everyone is talking about this new Netflix original film. It features Chris Hemsworth (, ), Jurnee Smollett (,, and Miles Teller, both.
Youd think that with all of the A-List energy, Netflix might be swooping from the rooftops about their new movie, especially given the competition from Disney Plus and other streaming services demanding that attention in the busy streaming world. Youd think they will be generating as much buzz as possible.
While it was featured during the recent Netflix Geeked Week (opens in a new tab), somehow Netflix remained relatively quiet about the film. Even then, there was still a little bit of fanfare.
There are a number of reasons why Netflix did not aggressively market, the second being that the movie is marketing itself. Based on the short story Escape from Spiderhead by George Saunders, the movies cast is what really sells it. You don''t have to think about what it''s about to know that it is probably, at least, worth a watch.
The trailer is sleek and sexy, providing just enough detail to draw you in. Once you''ve arrived, youre good to go. So far, it seems to live up to the hype of being the most popular Netflix film.
It''s more than likely that Netflix decided to shift its focus to commercial because it knew it would be a hit once people discovered it. Hemsworth''s social media campaign is exactly what it takes to get the ball rolling.

Here''s what viewers had to say about the bizarre advertising campaign for Spiderheads:
I just watched #Spiderhead, but I''m again dissatisfied with Netflix''s attempts to commercialize this movie. Although it will not be for everyone, I really enjoyed it. It''s well directed, the soundtrack rules, and Chris Hemsworth absolutely BODIED this shit. This is perhaps his most popular performance of his. pic.twitter.com/HylLeCQF9TJune 17, 2022
The Deadpool writers have released a film called Spiderhead with Chris Hemsworth, Miles Teller, and Jurnee Smollett. Youd think Netflix would be launching it like a crazy cause of whos involved, but no marketing has been made until June 16, 2022.
Last night, spotted Spiderhead on Netflix. Didn''t know anything about it, had no idea it at all. So all I''m going to say is, you should definitely watch it. #SpiderheadJun 18, 2022
