The beta for Overwatch 2 launches this fall, primarily for beginners who want some new content, but questions remain about the transition. Overwatch 2 will offer you all sorts of currencies and collectibles, so what happens to your loot boxes when you jump?
In a recent Reddit AMA, Blizzard explained how all of your Overwatch 1 currencies (Credits, OWL tokens, competitive points) will indeed be transferred over, but their use will be pretty limited. Blizzard announces that Overwatch 2 will be released, and some things will only be purchasable with them. So, all of your loot boxes will be automatically opened, so you won''t lose out on any items.
Before Overwatch 2 will be released in October, those existing currencies (credits, OWL tokens, and competitive points) will come with you. However, even before the loot boxes will be automatically opened with your account receiving all of the contents directly. OW1 credits will be the main currency, but there are certain things in OW2 that will not be purchasable with those OW1 credits.
