The OG is back on television for its 21st season, after last broadcasting a full season in 2010, the series has returned with a wealth of familiar faces ahead of the trip.

The original developed by Dick Wolf was first released in 1990 and ran for 20 years in total. While there have been multiple spinoffs (six in total) and are only two on air right now. Following the cancelling of the new spinoff before it really got underway, the door was opened for the return.

The season 21 finale will air on Thursday, May 19, but the series has been renewed for an additional season.

The show, which began in its two-part format, which was used for its initial run and maintains its original concept of following the cops who investigate crime and the district prosecutor.

This is not a reboot, but a complete rebuild of the original cast, which is why season 21 is considered, and a number of the new shows are making a comeback.

Sam Waterston returns as District Attorney Jack McCoy (Waterstons 17th season on the show) and Anthony Anderson reprises his role as Detective Kevin Bernard. Waterston, Anderson, and Manheim have welcomed a handful of new members to the team. Jeffrey Donovan () as an NYPD detective, Hugh Dancy () as an assistant district attorney, and Odelya Halevi () as Assistant District Attorney Samantha Maroun are among the new members.
