Gearbox, the inventor of the Borderlands franchise, is developing nine AAA games.
Embracer, Gearbox''s parent company, disclosed these figures in its recent financial statements, stating, "Gearbox continues to expand the company to deliver on its ambitious growth strategy, and there are currently nine AAA games in development."
With Homeworld 3, Hyper Light Breaker, Relic Hunters Legends, and a Nice Death and Eyes in the Dark, the Curious Case of One Victoria Bloom, Gearbox is releasing a preview of several of these games.
There is still room for four additional titles to be announced. Supposedly, the aforementioned games are indeed the titles Embracer was talking to in its report, and there is certainly good reason to claim that some of these games will not fall under the umbrella of "AAA game."
Gearbox as a whole is booming extremely rapidly. In April, the company announced its acquisition of Lost Boys, an independent video game company, adding 220 team members to its total number.
Gearbox''s total headcount now stands at around 1300 following this acquisition.
