Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a sequel to the open world that hasn''t been seen in over three years. Ubisoft have maintained that the project isn''t cancelled, and here''s at least one thing: narrative designer Sarah Arellano has teamed up to the project as the lead author.
On Twitter, Arellano posted the news in a traditional fashion:
It''s my job to do the same pic.twitter.com/gS87kZn7UT.
Arellano''s previous roles include being a narrative designer on World Of Warcraft at Blizzard, as well as a spell working on the new Saints Row.
BG&2 has been cited in financial reports as a continuing concern, but it hasn''t been seen since a gameplay explainer video at the close of 2018 showed a galaxy-scale open world that at times seemed empty and unfinished, but had a wealth of controls around combat, crafting, and exploration to suggest it was far more than a simple tech demo.
Years of in-engine videos and CG cutscenes have gone back to 2008. It''s been a long journey since, with a project being criticised for requesting spec work from its fans and Beyond Good & Evil creators escaping Ubisoft in 2020.
Hiring a lead writer may imply anything in terms of the status of the project, but at least, means the project is being aggressively developed. Now I''m just wondering if the Netflix show is still being developed.
