Justin Min's Sparrow Academy Ben Spotlight at The Umbrella Academy S03

Earlier today, reality producer Justin Min and showrunner & EPSteve Blackman discussed what other Ben Hargreeves expects during the third season of Netflix''s Gerard Way & Gabriel Ba''s (more on that in a minute) had. But now we''ve got the second part of that update, in the form of three new preview images highlighting the Sparrow Academy''s brash and cocky Number 2. Here''s a look.

Min and Blackman discuss the fundamental differences between the Umbrella Academy and the Sparrow Academy, how Min''s two "Bens" compare, what it was like to offer an alt-reality perspective on a beloved character, and more in their interview with EW.

After Ben''s Season 2 finale, Min said, "That was a very emotional day for me because I thought it was my last day on set. I was in a total haze. I remember going to my hair and makeup personnel and being like, "Thank you so much for being with me on this journey." I sent them thank-you cards!

"The fundamental Umbrella Academy/Sparrow Academy Difference" "The way I thought about Season 3 is that the Umbrellas are a family that didn''t know how to be superheroes. The Sparrows are superheroes who never knew how to be a family. That''s the difference in how they go about being superheroes."

"Steve [Blackman] and I talked a lot about this balancing act between nature and nurture, and what it would do to someone like Ben. I think nurture is a huge striving force behind who Ben is, and who Ben becomes. In this alternate reality, these are all things that we talked about making a great impression on Ben."

While I was filming, Min made sure "Umbrella" Ben would not be disappointed (& It Was "Exhausting"): "I got to work with a voice coach to slightly lower my register, as well as learn how to progress more. So they wanted me to physically embody the character, so I had to go to the gym for the first time in many years. Having these external factors in terms of body and voice really helped me to inhabit the character in a real and conjecture. "

"Sparrow" Ben is more than fine with utilizing his powers than his "Umbrella" counterpart: "I think the previous version of Ben was worried about his abilities. However, since the Sparrows have been trained to administer their powers during combat, it''s a casual way for him to assert his superiority. In the very first montage where you introduce the Sparrows, you even see him smoking a cigar and drink. It''s something he whips out as a party trick and is
