Sega has announced the RGG Summit in 2022, a livestream focused on Yakuza''s developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
The stream will air on the official Sega Twitch channel next week, September 14, at 11am BST/ 12pm CEST/ 6am EST. However, RGG Studio did not mention any specifics on the livestream in the announcement tweet, so it''s likely pretty safe to say that Yakuza 8 will make some appearance during the show.
Back in July, we received our first look at Yakuza 8, which was mostly a few screenshots. However, we could see that the sequel to Yakuza: Like A Dragon will be directed, with the protagonist Ichiban set to return. As a result, Yakuza should continue to be a turn-based RPG series, according to Toshihiro Nagoshi and Kazuki Hosokawa.
While it should be noted that Nagoshi has previously left RGG Studio and has now founded his own studio, Nagoshi Studio, at NetEase. According to the Yakuza creator, his net game "will look like a Tarantino film," which certainly sounds like he will not stray too far from the genre of games he likes to make.
A new Judgment game might be announced, but RGG Studio is developing a new as-of-yet unannounced title, which it has already confirmed last year.
The Tokyo Game Show kicks off September 15, which will likely include a few announcements. Konami has been releasing a new game from a "world-loved series," although it is apparently the repeated leak, but we''ll have to wait to see if it even has a new Silent Hill game.
