Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt collaborated and executive produced the pilot, with the creator Martin Gero (now the series new showrunner), the creator of the original series, Don Bellisario, and the creative director Deborah Pratt. Bakula has apparently had discussions about returning (Stockwell died in November 2021 at the age of 85).
