What is the fifth season of The Handmaid''s Tale?
Season 4 of the Gilead team finished on a very good note, but another one that took a long time, as Commander Fred Waterford was defeated to death in the woods, something that will have serious consequences.
It''s also probable that we''ll get a focus on Atwood''s second novel, which is the follow-up from the original story, although, as of today, this is just speculation.
Hulu explains the season 5 sequence by saying:
"In season 5, June will face consequences for killing Commander Waterford while she is attempting to redefine her identity and purpose. Serena, a widowed Serena, is attempting to broaden her profile in Toronto as Canadian influence creeps.
"Commander Lawrence works with Aunt Lydia as he seeks to reform Gilead and advance. "June, Luke, and Moira fight Gilead from a distance as they continue their mission to save and reconnect with Hannah."
Who''''s in the cast?
Elisabeth Moss will be joined by long-running cast members such as Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, Samira Wiley, Serena Waterford, and Madeline Brewer as Janine.
O-T Fagbenle as Luke, Max Minghella as Nick, and Bradley Whitford as Commander Lawrence are among the recurring cast members expected to return, as well as season 4 newcomers, such as McKenna Grace.
Alexis Bledel, a significant character who has left the series as reported in Variety (opens in a new tab), decided to leave the show prior to the start of season 5.
Is there a trailer yet?
Thanks to Hulu, we have an official trailer. While many viewers have labeled Fred as the true villain of the series, this season is likely to reveal the "big bad" of the show has always been Serena Waterford.
Following Fred''s death, fans may finally have a marvelous June and Serena screening, which some of us have been waiting for.
