In fall 2022, Live from New York will premiere for season 48. This long-running sketch show has served as a starting point for some of the most famous comedians in over 50 years and has produced numerous hilarious moments, from political satire to the fantastically odd.

Lorne Michaels has been established and remains at the start of the show (with it is widely believed he intends to do so until the 50th season), but there are a few changes as cast members depart and new ones arrive, plus the weekly rotation of celebrity hosts, musical acts and surprise guests.

When will the Saturday Night Live season 48 premiere take place?

The first episode of Season 48 will air on Saturday, October 1, at 11:30 pm ET/8:30 pm PT. The following day will be followed up by two more episodes on October 8 and October 15.

Who left Saturday Night Live?

The cast is constantly evolving with new faces, and unfortunately, those who will not join the cast. A number of big names announced that they would leave at the end of season 47 after many years, and on September 1, The Hollywood Reporter (opens in a new tab) revealed that a handful of other cast members were stepping ahead of the season 48 premiere.

"I thought about it for a long time, and it was very, very difficult because all I needed to do in my entire life was be on," said one participant. "I had the greatest decade, and then I was just like myself, and my body was fatigued, and I felt like it was time."

NBC starts streaming live on the service during season 47, meaning anyone with a traditional cable subscription or television antenna can tune in to their local NBC station to watch the show when it is live. A number of live TV streaming services also include NBC, including FuboTV, Hulu, with Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV. Finally, if youre a Peacock Premium subscriber, NBC is likely to do so again this year.

Want to keep up with on-demand? The most recent episodes will be available on Peacock exclusively, as NBC has ended its streaming deal with Hulu.
