The 12-episode drama series will air worldwide with the first three episodes on Apple TV+ on Friday October 14 2022. This will be followed by one new episode weekly, which will air every Friday until December 16, 2022.

Shantaram plot what happens in the drama?

Lin Ford, a desperate fugitive and heroin addict, was sentenced to life in prison in Australia, where he was incarcerated for robbery. He ends up learning to live a new life and escape justice on the bustling streets of Bombay (now called Mumbai) where he adopts the guise of a doctor.

While he soon becomes caught up with local police and the fight against Russian troops that invade Afghanistan, Lin finds it difficult to leave his past behind. (Antonia Desplat) Will he choose to leave his wife behind?

Charlie Hunnam, the lead actress for the 1980s, plays Lin Ford, the fugitive behind the prison in Bombay.

Charlie is well-known for his role as Jackson ''Jax'' Teller on a US biker drama but did make his breakthrough on British television back in 1999 when, as a teenager, he starred as love-smitten Nathan Maloney in the original Queer As Folk series. The 42-year-old Newcastle-born actor had previously appeared in the BBC teen drama.
