Move over Wesker, theres a new mascot in town

The rest of video game adaptations are all the rage, and everyone is taking no breaks. Today, Netflix released the official teaser for its live-actionseries and its got zombies. Its got chainsaws. There''s also a bear hologram.

The film depicts that little significant event in New Raccoon City might happen. Supposedly, it follows two paths, including the outbreak and the consequences of a bio-weapon disaster. In the teaser, we see that change happening, as we see time and location leap midway through.

It appears to be a more straightforward zombie film with some flavor in it. Umbrella, and yes, an undead dog, are some of the references, but im also left a bit worried about how deep intolore was going to cut.

Under the Umbrella

To be fair, it had a lot of success in the past when it was loosely adapted. Theres just been a string of recent and highly faithful adaptations to compare Netflix''s effort directly with.

The most recent live-action effort, and it did not put the world on fire. But Netflix itself introduced anotherseries, in its service last year. That one was CGI, and followed Leon and Claire in a horror celebration in Washington D.C.

The Netflix live-actionseries ace in the hole might be its cast. The production even includes Lance Reddick taking up the mantle of Wesker. Maybe this two-timeline thing works out fine. Just dont trust the huge talking teddy bear hologram.

Im interested to see where this adaptation takes. At the end of the day, a massive mega-corp is starting a zombie outbreak. But the lukewarm reception to theseries gives me just the slightest of pauses. Anyway, what Netflix has in store on July 14.
