The start and end times for the Modern Warfare 2 beta, pre-loading, download size, and more are all

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta is on course to begin. This will be our first opportunity to go hands-on with several aspects of multiplayer gameplay, test out the new gunplay, in the revamped Gunsmith system, and even earn some rewards to play.

This page will answer any question you may have about the Modern Warfare 2 beta as far as platforms, early access, download sizes, and content. Before you get into it, you must know that this beta schedule this year is similar to the recent Call of Duty beta tests.

In these cases, PlayStation players have a weekend to themselves, while PC and Xbox have waited until the next weekend, regardless of whether or not you pre-ordered.

The start times and schedule for the Modern Warfare 2 beta are unknown.

The beta of Modern Warfare 2 takes place over two weekends, with each weekend being divided into two stages. The first weekend is exclusive to PlayStation, and the second opens up to PC and Xbox.

The initial times for beta are the same for both weekends, but each region is different due to time differences:

  • 10am PDT
  • 1pm EDT
  • 6pm BST
  • 7pm CEST

The schedule is a bit tricky, but there is nothing you''ve never seen before.

  • Early access: Friday, September 16 to Saturday, September 17.
  • Open beta: Sunday, September 18 to Tuesday, September 20.
  • Early access: Thursday, September 22 to Friday, September 23.
  • Open beta: Saturday, September 24 to Monday, September 26.

How to access the Modern Warfare 2 beta

The first weekend of each weekend will only be reserved for players who pre-ordered the game. If you made the pre-order digitally, you''ll be granted access.

If you were to go through a website like Amazon, you''ll receive a code that you''ll need to enter on this beta website. Pick your platform, and keep an eye on your email afterwards, because you''ll receive your beta code - which is what will allow you to download the beta.

If you prefer to wait for the open portion of the two weekends, you''ll be able to download the beta freely through your console/PC''s store and enjoy it without having to pre-order.

Activision itself and some content creators/media are often giving away codes on their social media accounts, so keep an eye on those when you''re planning to play early.

Modern Warfare 2 beta pre-load

The pre-load is now available on PlayStation consoles. It went live two days before the actual beta, therefore we expect that both the PC and Xbox versions will go live at a similar time (likely September 21) before the second weekend.

Modern Warfare 2 beta download size

The Modern Warfare 2 beta will last for 25.3GB on PlayStation 5, but it will last for 34.4GB on PlayStation 4. However, we cannot guarantee that their respective pre-loads will be confirmed.

The six different 6v6 modes: Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, and Search and Destroy, as well as the two new arrivals - Knock Out, and Prisoner Rescue. Ground War in the beta, if you prefer the bigger maps, is available in the usual Domination-like mode, as well as the new Invasion, which is a TDM.

The 6v6 modes will be available for playing on four maps: Valderas Museum, Mercado Las Almas, Breenbergh Hotel, and Farm 18. Ground War''s two modes are available on one map: Sarrif Bay.

Several players are looking forward to the Gunsmith 2.0 and Weapon Platforms system, which, out of maps and modes, is quite a bit afloat.
