Ubisoft will adopt a $70 price tag model for its major releases

Current gen titles to sport top-tier prices

Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, said the publisher will pay $70 USD for all of its major releases in the future. The new price point, which is rapidly becoming industry standard, will be applicable to all publishers AAA titles.

Guillemot said the price variation was in-line with other publishers in the country that have also chosen to increase the Recommended Retail Price (RRP) of their greatest releases, particularly for current platforms such as PS5 and Xbox Series X. The first Ubisoft title to release at the new price will be the current-gen version of the PS5 and Xbox Series X in November. Future releases such as the upcoming are also expected to adopt the new pricing scheme.

While many will chuckle at the inevitable price rise, Ubisoft is by far the first publisher to take this approach in 2020, and is in fact one of the few outliers in this particular situation. 2K Games was the first title to launch at $70 back in 2020, and other publishers, such as Activision, Sony, and Square Enix, would follow suit distributing premium titles such as and even on the traditionally cheaper PC platform.
