Jon Hurwitz of Cobra Kai: The Sony 2024 Karate Kid Film "Isn't From Us"

As far as twists go, co-creator Jon Hurwitz confirmed a significant bombshell in the film Sony Pictures is planning for 2024. After a fan requested permission on Twitter, the executive producer said, "The guys and I would love to see Karate Kid and Cobra Kai movies and hope to someday. But this one isn''t from us or focused on the Cobra Kai cast. Don''t know much about it, but I''m happy. #KarateKid #CobraKai

We might see either a sequel to the Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith-starring remake in which they play Mr. Han and Dre Parker, or we may see a completely new remake altogether, which would recast the roles of Mr. Miyagi and Daniel LaRusso. The third possibility, which is even less significant or even as unlikely as expanding on the Han and Parker characters, is that there is a new master and pupil as a part of the original film. Could Sony do this without any of the other options

The Miyagi-verse is the official continuation of the original John Avildsen films based on the Robert Mark Kamen characters. It saw the return of Ralph Macchio and William Zabka as characters from Daniel and Johnny Lawrence, who were now middle-aged and forging new lives as they waned beyond the past. Since the series initial release on YouTube, it found a new home, bringing the majority of the major character characters from the franchise, with the exception of Pat Morita (Miyagi

With the exception of director Harald Zwart''s 2010 remake and writer Christopher Murphey, the timing has been disappointing, but the time that''s passed seems to make expanding the film somewhat unlikely, as Smith hasn''t demonstrated interest in developing his acting career. Chan''s also stayed away from mainstream work, focusing on his recent stateside projects for STX.

We would love to see Karate Kid and Cobra Kai movies sometime soon. But this one isn''t from us or focused on the Cobra Kai cast. Don''t know much about it, but we''re grateful to them. #KarateKid #CobraKai https://t.co/pd2aYAF0A
