Release Date, Cast, Character, Trailer, and Everything We Know About Spider-Man: Across the Spider-V

The sixth installment of the Sony animated Spider-Man franchise has been announced, although fans will have to wait until 2023.

While it is fair to say that superhero fatigue is still a myth. With his Spideys MCU colleagues recently helping break box office records, demand and anticipation are high.

More importantly, it doesnt feel like four years since the Oscar-winning event shook critics and audiences alike, leading producers to confirm back-to-back sequels in the form of and () the latter now scheduled for 2023. However, will this new Miles Morales adventure live up to the hype?

Everything we know about the new release date is revealed here...

The release date for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) is now available.

Miles will make his comeback on June 2, 2023. Originally the film was due on October 7, 2022, but it''s now been revealed it has been pushed back.

Following its theatrical window, the streaming will last for a reasonable period first on Netflix (likely 18 months) before moving to Disney Plus, owing to lucrative agreements last year.

What''''s the plot?

As with any superhero film these days, the studio is keeping plotlines close to its chest. However, thanks to a teaser trailer released late last year, there are a few things we know, and others we can easily discern.

As early shots show an older-looking Miles out of sorts after Gwen made a surprise stop in his bedroom, the film is likely to pick up a good time. We also know that Spider-Gwen will be a major player. Amy Pascal has confirmed that the film will investigate aspects of Miles and Gwens'' relationship that couldn''t fit into.

Spiderman 2099, the futuristic version of everyone''s favorite wallcrawler who appeared in Neuva York in the post-credits season, is seen grappling with Miles Spider-Man in the teaser and appears to be a major component of events this time around.

It''s difficult to know if they''re fighting or simply trying, but we can glean that Miguel converts his wrist gadget to 928, implying that hes attempting to include Miles in his timeline. Gwen also sports a similar wrist device, implying that she has partnered with Miguel, and hopes to recruit Miles into his mission.

One of the most disturbing rumors in circulation is the notion of a MCU/Sony character crossover. Following the success of which combined historic Spidermen in the form of Andrew Garfield, Tobey Maguire, and Tom Holland, theres a huge possibility that characters from the multiverse might come together. This animated outing would certainly be in line with the franchise''s perceived boundaries.

In the midst of the hexagons, other indications this Marvel-melding might become a reality. Hexagons were used as portals in and in the TV show to represent the Westview Anomaly (or The Hex) to intercede reality.

However, the possibility that other Spider-people will be involved in this years gang (Spider-Woman and Japanese Spider-Man have been confirmed), although whether Spider-Man India, Punk, or Silk in the teaser are accurate is still unknown.

One of the most difficult questions left unanswered is: who will the villain be? There is no real evidence identifying the big bad, although some speculation points to The Spot, an expert at Kingpins, who may be causing havoc across realities, after creating a black portal.

Part One of the cast of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

It''s no surprise that the stars of the star-studded original film return for this installment, with Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld voicing Miles Morales and Gwen Stacey, and Jake Johnson once again picking up his mantle as Peter B. Parker (Miles'' mentor from another universe in ).

Issa Rae is set to play Spider-Woman and Oscar Isaac as Spider-Man in 2099. As Spider-Man Noir and John Mulaney, fans of the film remain unexplored.

Is there a trailer?

Yes, on December 5, 2021, Sony released a 2-minute 30-second teaser trailer for the film. Apart from Gwen''s unanswered remarks (for reasons TBC), Miguel and Miles'' easter egg-strewn tumble, the film also shows a style and tone very much compatible with its predecessor. Expect a wide range of new animation styles to match time periods, characters and abilities, as well as an equally addictive soundtrack.

Who''''s making it?

A majority of the creative team from the producers has been imported for, most recently film-making directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller the brains behind and the surprise success of who plays both producers and writers, along with additional scriptwriting from Dave Callaham (and others).

Amy Pascal, the filmmaker of many Sony superhero films, is also working with Avi Arad (producer of many of them) and Christina Steinberg (). Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson are among the artists joining the cast.
