The race is divided into sections, where contestants receive clues and must navigate around other countries to complete physical and psychological challenges. This season, CBS has announced that there will not be any non-elimination legs of the competition; one team will be eliminated each week. If they can persevere, the final team will earn the seven-figure sum in the end.

Season 33 was different from the several preceding seasons. Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, filming was shut down early on. However, there was a positive coming out of the way the show works.

For years, we''ve all been talking about, which wouldn''t be great if we didn''t have to line up in airports, and wouldn''t it be great if we didn''t have to face all of these strict security procedures," Phil said of Entertainment Weekly.
