Sony's former CEO joinsTencent

Shawn Layden, best known for his time in senior positions at Sony, joined Tencent Games last month, according to reports.

Layden has since confirmed the move in posting statements on social media for the first time.

Layden''s experience starts in August 2022, revealing the position of strategic advisor to Tencent.

Layden posted separate statements on Twitter and LinkedIn in response to the rumors that his LinkedIn profile was broken. "Looks like LinkedIn leapt the species wall," he wrote on Twitter, and continues to confirm his role as a strategic advisor.

LinkedIn makes a jump on the species wall and the news is here. Nevertheless, a quick update to say I''ve joined Tencent as a strategic advisor and am excited to be working with them as interactive entertainment drives technology and innovation. #tencent #videogames

According to Layden, the statement on LinkedIn echoed similar statements that had been shared on Twitter. "I hope to advise, assist, and support the Tencent team."

Layden left Sony in 2019 after 32 years in the company, and is widely recognized as one of the opponents of PlayStation. Tencent meanwhile has recently increased its stakes in several studios such as Ubisoft and FromSoftware.
