Brianna Lei, a solo indie producer, has revealed the sequel to LGBT+ baseballing, and the romancing visual novel Butterfly Soup will hit itch.io on October 29th. Butterfly Soup 2 is a season-long game that will bring back all four key characters. It''s set just a few months following the original, and Lei recommends it be occupied for around three hours.
The game will be a complete remake of the original Butterfly Soup, which celebrated its fifth anniversary last week. Its a link to Leis'' Twitter account indicated that she is still working on the game, and that once again it will probably come down to the wire.
The sequel to Butterfly Soup focus on four gay Asian-American girls Diya, Noelle, Akarsha, and Min-seo. The first game was released on itch.io in 2017, and Lei has since worked with translators since to add a few additional language options. Pom Gets Wifi also featured in the film, which you may check out here.
Butterfly Soup was named one of the top ten PC novels to play this year. In 2018, Lei discussed with RPS about her vision for a sequel. Although Lei had planned for the first game to be twice as long, it had to be reduced in half due to the scope of a larger project as a solo dev. While one couple got together in the original, the other didnt. Lei hopes to explore their relationship and flesh out some other characters in Butterfly Soup 2.
Butterfly Soup 2 will be available on itch.io and is pay-what-you-want. The original is now available on Leis itch.io.
