The closed beta for Warhammer 40K: Darktide will take place in October

Darktide, a series of classic Warhammer 40K, is still going to be released this year. Fatshark is having a closed beta weekend and has just announced the dates: October 14th-16th.

The closed beta test will be available to players on Steam and the Microsoft store, which will offer a limited seleciton of the weapons, maps, and enemy types from the entire game. The guide will not take you to the final release, according to the FAQ.

If you want to get involved, then you can still sign up on the official site. You fill out the form and then they email you to ask for additional information, such as your PC hardware specifications and where you live. These questions will partly determine whether you have a space in the beta.

Our Ed found Darktide at Gamescom a "a good co-op FPS time" but a familiar one:

Personally, I''m not sure that the co-op wave basher will evolve, since it continues to feel underserved as a genre. I didn''t get on with Back 4 Blood, and I''m hoping for a better time with Darktide''s exceptional meaty experience.
