Infinity Ward has addressed concerns from the players about its closed beta, which took place over the past weekend. Many experienced players were dissatisfied with an odd new tweak to the in-game mini-map.
It''s all about noise location. In multiplayer, the sound of players firing their weapons does not appear to be a red dot on the mini-map, causing players to lose their position. It has been implemented in order to forego enemy positions by sound only. Unfortunately, it has received a very negative response from the playerbase, who finds the change not only unreliable but even problematic.
This is because we do not want to punish players for firing their weapons, according to Infinity Ward, responding to player complaints. We also want players to actively look at the origin of a gunshot instead of traveling directly to the base of the mini-map. We continue to gather feedback on the game''s play in this regard.
Because of this one thing, you may expose yourself, whether through sound, or bullet tracers. That''s part of the battle, part of the strategy, and the game. Often, the red dot is the only way you can detect a frustrated camper, or long-distance sniper. Besides, there''s already a disadvantage for the red dot in the form of weapon silencers or benefits that make your chosen character less fussy. This is why these items and loadout choices exist.
It is vital that having an exit strategy, it allows for ambushes and stealth attacks. And, if you choose to play more silently, you have those options at the expense of other obstacles, such as damage or range. However, removeting the red dot from the mini-map when a player fires an automatic rifle will make the game more enjoyable than it will result in a lack of tactic.
October 28th, the game will be available on PlayStation, PC, and Xbox platforms.
