The Sonic IP is attempting to become more mainstream than ever.
As the franchise enters a new territory, a new Sonic Team animated logo has just dropped.
Sega believes this is going to be a big year for Sonic, with and (the Netflix show) launching in a few months, as well as the release of the film, earlier this year. Here''s the full statement from Sonic Creative Director Kazuyuki Hoshino:
Hey Sonic Fans! Project Sonic 22 is focusing on more than just merch or social media, collaborations with artists and influencers, and more! We hope that our fans enjoy these activities as much as we do.
As part of this effort, we are able to hand over a brand new Sonic Team animated logo!
The Sonic Team is full of motivation and passion, composed of exceptional team members who have been here for a long time, and newcomers bringing their own fresh perspective on things. Those talented groups of people are able to come together to make this team even stronger. We want our fans to know that when they see this logo, they will get a good game from the Sonic Team.
In the near future, my team and I anticipate showing this new logo film to our fans on several occasions.
So the statement basically reflects what a few weeks ago from another producer, Takashi Iizuka. But I must say, merch, social media, collaborations with artists and influencers, and more probably isnt going to float a lot of boats! Equally, if the anchor of this entire initiative,, performs well in the end. For all this fanfare, it must at least sell well.
With that being said, the majority of what the team has shown off beyond the initial reveal has been enticing. Cyber Space levels and downplaying the open world as mostly a vessel to get you from stage to stage are good news.
