Nintendo is removing the right to sign in with Facebook or Twitter

Facebook or Twitter will not be permitted to sign in to a Nintendo account.

The Nintendo Facebook and Twitter link feature will come to an end in the near future next month, in fact.

The company has given an end date for October 25, 2022, at which point everyone who uses the two options will need to sign in via their Nintendo Account email address/ID or a Google/Apple account. This applies across the board to all Nintendo Accounts, even on Nintendo Switch, so its not a legacy/Wii U/3DS thing.

What does this even mean, exactly?

Note that a lot of individuals may not be able to ignore this option as well, although some of you may be affected. Facebook or Twitter is optional, as well as Google, Apple, and a direct Nintendo Account login.

So, seven years ago, Nintendo discussed the possibility to sign into a Nintendo Network account with Facebook and Twitter as a way to acquire customers more easily. However, a lot has changed since then, particularly when it comes to information security. So, for the time being, it has been clarified that Google/Apple sign-ins will remain.

This change is only for Nintendo Account sign-ins, although the ability to share screens and the same on Twitter and Facebook will remain.
