Return to Monkey Island has just arrived, and the reception to it has been overwhelmingly positive. Those at Lucasfilm Games, or even Craig Derrick who worked with Ron Gilbert and co to release the game, have not missed this reception.
In a heartfelt Twitter thread, Derrick has shared his delight with Return to Monkey Island.
This is something that is nice, but it is not particularly newsworthy. However, at the conclusion of his thread, Derrick sparked a wave of phrases that have captivated the world: "I''ll be standing by when it''s time to go BACK TO THE MANSION!"
Many have assumed that the mansion Derrick is saying about is Maniac Mansion, the first self-published game from 1987.
As they entered the fictional Edison house, Gary Winnick and a certain Ron Gilbert created this game.
I''m sure more will be said in the weeks and months ahead, but for now, I''ll be standing by when it''s time to go BACK TO THE MANSION!
Although this tweet alone may not be enough to conclude that Derrick was effective in making a comeback in the point and click adventure, others have pointed out that he also expressed his desire to return to the property back in August.
Again, with a clear advantage of capitals, Derrick tweeted: "I know that I must... GO BACK TO THE MANSION!" Adding this tweet was a trailer for Maniac Mansion, which was upgraded in 1989.
I know that I must BE JUST IN THE MANSION! https://t.co/41NVVAFPBS
If these teases come to an end, Eurogamer will keep you posted. Would you like the green tentacle to look back again?
