Ubisoft confirms and then confirms that Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope are required at Ubisoft Conne

Well, the latest answer is good news

This morning, the official Ubisoft Support Twitter account seemed to have confirmed a Ubisoft Connect requirement for. It was greeted with immediate concern from fans, on the very day the game had gone gold. After the tweet was swiftly deleted, we reached out to Ubisoft for clarification, but the same account later cleared up.

According to a new tweet, a Ubisoft Connect account isnt required for players to play, contrary to what was wrongfully mentioned in one of our previous tweets. It appears to be a definitive statement on the subject, as a direct follow-up and acknowledgment of the previous error. In any case, a single-player adventure game would be a bad experience if it requires a third-party sign-on.

Ubisoft has been pushing Connect wherever it can, and is still operating the Ubisoft Connect launcher (formerly uPlay) and storefront. Conversely, several studios have closed down or otherwise downplayed their launchers, in favor of moving to more widespread platforms. It''s one thing to have it strewn about an game for bits and bob bonus points, but its not going to get the same pass with.

The simple mention of a login requirement really brought me back to the 2010s, as did the launchers'' frustration: when you received the additional baggage of additional logins, but none of the bonuses included cross-play. It was a tumultuous time.
