What is East New York about?
The following is a brief explanation of CBS'' plot.
"Amanda Warren is a working-class neighborhood on the edge of Brooklyn with her family''s help, but she is able to pursue innovative strategies to protect her beloved community with the help of her officers and detectives. Initially, Haywood is very skeptical of her advancement, while others oppose making modifications.
"Her team includes her mentor, shrewd veteran two-star Chief John Suarez, Marvin Sandeford, a well-known training officer and expert on the area, Tommy Killian, a detective with some old-school methods of policing, and Crystal Morales, a gregarious and effective right hand, and ambitious patrol officer Brandy Quinlan, the only volunteer to live in a local housing project as part of Haywoods'' plan to bridge the gap between police and community.
East New York season 1 cast
The main reason for the casting is that the show reflects Jimmy Smits'' return in a genre he does so well: crime dramas. In the past, one of Smits'' most famous roles was Detective Bobby Simone, who was well known for ten years. Over the years, the actor has since come to television screens as Chief John Suarez.
