Okay, today things are getting back to normal. This weekend''s kick-off of Season 48 features Lorne Michaels and NBC''s (with Miles Teller holding the stage), and Kendrick Lamar as the musical guest. Here''s a look back to this week when SNL checked in with Teller during the read-thru, and we also got a chance to meet up with new featured players, Marcello Hernandez, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker. This weekend, the NBC''s intro video will take a look back at:
Michaels spoke with fans about the casting changes, labeling the upcoming season as "a yearof reinvention" that might lead to a "exhilarating" change. He also discussed what''s in store for SNL''s big 50th anniversary celebration. Here are some of the highlights:
COVID-19 Fallout resulted in a much larger SNL cast than Usual: "The epidemic had put us in this position where no one could really leave because there were no jobs." Similarly, if I don''t add new people every year, then the show isn''t the show. It must be new people, for both our sake and the audience."
"We reached a point where a lot of people were out there, and people were still having plenty of playing time." The show''s value is that people go off and do other things, and their primary obligation is to keep pushing the show. There''s a time to say goodbye, and it''s a natural time for it, but the situation just got interfered with."
"Particularly, I need that part [[Weekend Update] with Colin Jost, except with Michael Che and "Weekend Update" to be as good as it is."
Think Big on Saturday Night Live: "The 50th will be a major event. We''ll bring everyone back from all 50 years, including guests, and all of that. It will be a very emotional and very powerful thing. I can tell you that there will not be as many plus-ones."
