Detective Comics #298's Silver Age Upgrade, at Auction

Matt Hagen, the Silver Age Clayface who was introduced in (cover-dated December 1961) is a rare rebooted character who became more powerful than the original. The Clayface who was introduced in (June 1940) was merely an actor playing a movie monster, but Matt Hagen became much more keen to be auctioned in the 2022 October 2-3 Sunday & Monday Comic Books Select Auction #122240at Heritage Auctions.

When Matt Hagen came across a strange pool in an underwater cave, he quickly discovered that his newfound abilities for crime quickly became a clay-like substance that might be molded with his mind. This allows Batman and Robin to capture him at the conclusion of this original series.

Because of its complexity, the Golden Age Clayface was essentially a throw-away character with only two appearances in the era, writer Bill Finger and artist Sheldon Moldoff created it to reimagine the notion of this classic Batman villain. This auction will be held on October 2-3 and Monday at Heritage Auctions. Please see their FAQ for details.
