Saturday Night Live is returning on October 29th, with Jack Harlow as host and music guest

We''ve been keeping a couple of brain cells aside for who''s on tap for Lorne Michaels and NBC''s Season 48. Tonight''s episode is the third of the three original episodes that were initially announced last month. So, we''ll be getting two more in a row before a break heading to Halloween? If SNL returns on October 29th, please confirm that the 22nd will be a skip week. However, when SNL returns on the 29th, viewers may expect Jack Harlow to play

Michael Che, Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Marcello Hernandez, Punkie Johnson, Colin Jost, Molly Kearney, Michael Longfellow, Sarah Sherman, and Jamie Davis have all been featured on NBC''s Season 48. Along with alum Darrell Hammond, the long-running late-night comedy/music series is produced by Michaels Studios in collaboration with Universal Television and Broadway Video.

Michaels spoke with fans about the casting changes, labeling the upcoming season as "a yearof reinvention" that might lead to some "exhilarating" changes. He also discussed what''s in store for SNL''s grand 50th anniversary celebration. Here are a few of the highlights:

The COVID-19 Fallout resulted in a much larger SNL cast than Usual: "The pandemic had put us in a position where no one could actually leave because there were no jobs. And, on the contrary, if I don''t add additional people every year, then the show isn''t the show. There must be additional people, for our sake, as well as for the audience."

"We got to a point where a lot of people were, and people weren''t getting enough playing time," says Michaels. The show''s longevity is driven by the level of improvement; it''s important to keep seeing their talent and keep pushing it forward. There''s a moment to say goodbye, and there''s a natural time for it, but the tragedy just ended."

"I just need that part [''Weekend Update'' with Che & Jost] to be as solid as it is," says Colin Jost, Michael Che, and "Weekend Update."

Think Big: "The 50th will be a major event. We''ll bring everyone back from all 50 years and hosts, and all of that. It will be a very emotional and very powerful thing. I''ll say there will not be as many plus-ones as you can."
