The servers for Nintendo Switch Sports are down for the time being, although there is no return date

The servers of Nintendo Switch Sports are currently offline, as a result of the most recent update.

Earlier this week, the Nintendo of America Twitter account posted a tweet to alert players that it will take down servers to investigate an issue with Nintendo Switch Sports. "A bug has been discovered in the Nintendo Switch Sports Ver1.2.1 update, which causes the software to close during the pre-match loading screen," said the tweet. "This is causing both online and offline play modes to be put to rest."

In a followup tweet, Nintendo continued: "While we investigate to see a solution, Nintendo Switch Sports servers will be temporarily taken offline and online play will not be available during this time. A save data backup has been temporarily suspended. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience."

Nintendo has first reported on the bug on October 14, and hasn''t stated when it intends to re-enable servers, nor has it provided any information on how things are going.

Switch Sports has been continuously updating the game since it first started, like in the summer when it added in some new volleyball moves and leg strap support for football matches, as well as the addition of an S Rank and Infinity Rank in the Pro League.

VG247''s review of Nintendo Switch Sports viewed the game very favorably, giving it four out of five stars, stating, "One can see how Nintendo might have done more new, and included more all-new stuff." Yet... Nintendo Switch Sports is pretty much exactly what I wanted. I can see how it would be one of the year''s absolute favorites. That''s Nintendo''s magic power."

Switch Sports came out a bit of a surprise, as it came out quite a while after the original Wii Sports, which Nintendo took the time to explain in May.
