The Epic Games Store''s interplanetary immersive sim Prey and Thunder Lotus Games'' Viking em up Jotun: Valhalla Edition offer these weeks freebies, but there''s still a lot of time to grab the previous weeks complimentary game, Terraforming Mars (which you can do here). Check the Epic Games Store at around 8am PST / 4pm BST for the changeover.
Arkanes Prey is a bananas alternate timeline immersive sim from 2017 where JFK dragging the magic bullet results in some significant changes to the Space Race. Creepy aliens called the Typhon have escaped containment in orbit around the Moon, and you may turn it into a cup among other items around the game Talos I space station. Personally, this is the first day of the game, so get your free download starting at 4pm BST.
In his Prey review, John (RPS in peace) recommended Arkanes pulp sci-fi reimagining. It is intuitive about almost every aspect of itself, but with that, which is so crucially modest. It doesnt slap your camera off, doesnt require you to sit through cutscenes, and doesnt require you sit still and listen to its story. It''s content to be itself and allow you to find it, which is a remarkably rare treat in this hobby.
As a result of Thora''s battle against the five aforementioned giant lads, the Valhalla Edition is stuffed with exciting elements that will put you straight into the underworld. You play dead Viking Thora, who is attempting to redeem herself by battling them, or Jotunn, so that she may avoid the gods'' fears. The whole game, however, is hand-drawn and powerful to behold. Here''s a link to the store page.
Jotun was thought to be in her top 50 Viking games because they had a sense of scale. Thora is a truly tiny, frightening bosses that losing one, however, feels like a genuine act of slaying. And the animation and the art are fantastic, allowing you to spend too much time admiring your adversary rather than giving them a big wallop.
Prey and Jotun: Valhalla Edition are free to claim on the Epic Games Store from May 12th to May 19th.
