Is there a Game Pass gap on Xbox to fill, or is the Starfield delay notmatter?

Bethesda has moved AAA''s mega-hit-in-waiting Starfield to 2023, along with Redfall, who was less likely to sell large quantities. However, the latter had no date, but it was expected to be released this year, at some point before Starfield. What else is on the horizon for Game Pass, and does Xbox have a small problem it needs to fix?

It''s fair to say that for many people, Game Pass is the platform the Xbox console/PC/mobile is just how they access it. Losing two large games is a frightening process, especially when you look at the year that was, what will be announced, and what happened last year.

At the end of 2021, Xbox had a couple of big-hitters arrive. Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite both qualify as AAA goodness. This kind of games that people who dont read this website are surprised about before the big movie of the moment. Microsoft, though hoped to make sure it had some of the benefit in the year months ahead of the release, managed to get Back 4 Blood on Game Pass. It was a fantastic start for the service, though.

On day one, the likes of Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Outriders, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance, and The Ascent hit Game Pass. It was a great year to be a Game Pass subscriber.

With Game Pass still dropping fantastic games (and a lot of day one indies), but the game is a bit lacking in the big draw that would tempt someone to subscribe in the same manner you might push you over the line to buy a console. A service seller.

Tunic, Tom Clancy''s Rainbow Six Extraction, and Total War: Warhammer III are all fantastic day one Game Pass games, but Sniper Elite 5 is coming soon, but we haven''t seen the dropoff yet. This month, Xbox may reveal something, but it appears unlikely that a blockbuster game will be released this year, according to Back 4 Blood. What games might it take to fill a gap?

Saints Row at the end of August would fit the bill, as would Marvel''s Midnight Suns. Gotham Knights in October would be a top-drawer get, but feels less likely (and I wouldn''t be surprised to see any extra info, just general pessimism around release dates) Im not overly optimistic about any of those coming to Game Pass, and then the rest of the release schedule is pretty barren. It will fill in, for sure, but there is unlikely to be much from Microsoft

I am a card-carriering Game Pass fan, and there will be a slew of games coming to the sub that make it worthwhile. However, for a subscription service, like Netflix and Disney+, most people are always looking for the big new thing to arrive. Hopefully in less than a month Ill look back on this article and be all, that''s you were a laugh over the previous day, as well as a slew of announcements at the Xbox and Bethesd
