During the SNL Read-Thru, Selena Gomez joins Saturday Night Live

After a fun weekend last weekend, NBC''s Saturday Night Live is returning with Selena Gomez, star of Only Murders in the Building, and vocalist, alongside vocalist Post Malone. We now know that this is the kind of format that might offer Gomez''s broader capabilities to an even larger audience (same for Malone). But let''s take a look back at where we are with the SNL public relations machine.

Now that we have reached the middle of the week, it''s time to check in to see how things will go with Gomez earlier today during the SNL read-thru (and here''s hoping we get some from the cast like they used to during the previous season):

Here''s a look back at SNL''s welcome video for Gomez & Malone (with on-stage promos on tap for Thursday):

During a show-night with CBS Mornings host Gayle King for his Kennedy Center honor before the end of the year, Lorne Michaels revealed that he had contemplated retiring and thought it was a "really good time to leave." But first and foremost, his commitment is to keep the show going until its 50th anniversary, which is in three years. "I''d like to see that through, and I have a feeling that''d be a good time to leave," Michaels said.

"I won''t want the show to be bad. I am so thankful to it. So I''ll do everything I can to keep it going for three years to come," Michaels said. While he was dissatisfied with talking about something that would not happen for three years, he admitted when it came to who will take on the role next that they had "a sense of where we''re going with it."

Aidy Bryant, Michael Che, Pete Davidson, Mikey Day, Heidi Gardner, Colin Jost, Alex Moffat, Kyle Mooney, Ego Nwodim, Cecily Strong, Kenan Thompson, and Bowen Yang are among the stars for NBC''s Saturday Night Live Season 47, with new performers including Andrew Dismukes, James Austin Johnson, and Sarah Sherman.
